Fair Trade Federation Announces New Executive Director Bethany Tran
The Fair Trade Federation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Bethany Tran as its new Executive Director.
Bethany has built a career around helping people and businesses unlock their power to create a better future. Following a successful career in marketing, she founded the fair trade company The Root Collective, which she led for 12 years. During that time, she gained extensive experience in harnessing business as a tool for systemic change in underserved communities.
Outgoing FTF Executive Director Chris Solt shared, “I am absolutely thrilled with the board’s choice of Bethany Tran as the next Executive Director of the Fair Trade Federation. Bethany brings not only extensive experience as a fair trade entrepreneur and leader through The Root Collective, but also a remarkable alignment with the mission, values, and community of the Federation. Her vision, skills, and heart for this work make her an exceptional leader, and I have every confidence she will guide the organization into an inspiring and impactful next chapter.”

Bethany will join the FTF team on October 13, 2025. FTF Board Chair Jessica Ray of GOEX Apparel shared about the Executive Director hiring process: “The FTF received applications for this role from so many qualified candidates. It was exciting to see so many people with a desire to step into this movement and lead the Fair Trade Federation into the future. This was not a decision we took lightly, and we truly believe that Bethany is the right person at the right moment to lead us into the Future of Responsible Trade. We are excited for our members to get to know Bethany at a deeper level, and our Board of Directors is thrilled to work with and support her as she steps into this role.”
