Valentine's Day of Action

When
February 14, 2010
After a successful Halloween campaign that
engaged more than 40,000 households in an
effort to help end child slavery on cocoa
farms, Global
Exchange, an FTF member since 1997, plans
to spread the word to more than 500 children
that fair trade chocolate presents a viable
alternative to conventional chocolate for
Valentine’s Day.
Around February
14, 2010, Global Exchange is inviting
elementary school teachers to educate the next
generation about Fair Trade chocolate and bring
Fair Trade into their schools with Global
Exchange's fun, interdisciplinary Fair
Trade cocoa curriculum. Teachers who
download the curriculum can also enter to win a
package of great fair trade gifts.
Interested parents, teachers, and other
supporters can also pick up a Fair Trade
Chocolate Valentine's
Day Action Kit that includes fair trade
chocolate minis, Valentines, and other great
products! They can also request free valentines
to distribute in classrooms, offices, or other
venues.
FTF members across the US and Canada are also gearing up to celebrate Valentine’s Day by providing products to warm the heart, including:
- Chocolate
Hearts from SERRV International
- Teddy Bears from Lanart
- Jewelry from more than 50 FTF members
- Wine from Etica Fair Trade
- Soapstone or onyx hearts from Trails to Bridges
- Larry's

Layers of Love coffees
- All You Need Is Love baby clothes from Siempre Sol
