Fair Trade Travel

FTF members and partners offer a variety of opportunities to meet and interact with fair trade producers while enjoying a unique vacation experience.  

Africa

  • Another Land Tours - East African wildlife, safaris, trekking, languages, accommodation, cultures, music and more. Through comprehensive travel kits and consultations, visitors will be fully prepared for meaningful adventure.
  • Global Exchange Reality Tours - Tours to South Africa provide the opportunity to understand issues beyond what is communicated by the mass media and gain a new vantage point from which to view foreign policy. Travelers are linked with activists and organizations from around the globe who are working toward positive change so that participants can examine related issues in their own communities.
  • Higher Grounds Fair Trade Coffee Tours - Trips give participants a unique overview into the political, economic, and social conditions of the host country and the chance to dive deep into the world of fair trade. With insights into craft production and coffee farming, tours try to deepen the connections between consumers and producers the world over.

Asia

  • Global Exchange Reality Tours - Tours to Afghanistan, India, Iran, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, North Korea, Syria, and Vietnam provide the opportunity to understand issues beyond what is communicated by the mass media and gain a new vantage point from which to view foreign policy. Travelers are linked with activists and organizations from around the globe who are working toward positive change so that participants can examine related issues in their own communities.
  • Phu Phiang Tours - Customized itineraries in Thailand for the discerning general traveler, as well as those with specific interests in crafts, arts and other cultural traditions

 Latin America

  • Equal Exchange Tours - Visit Colombia and compare the impact of free and fair trade. Over the course of ten days, participants can learn firsthand about coffee farming and the challenges faced by small scale farmers.
  • Global Exchange Reality Tours - Tours to Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuala provide the opportunity to understand issues beyond what is communicated by the mass media and gain a new vantage point from which to view foreign policy. Travelers are linked with activists and organizations from around the globe who are working toward positive change so that participants can examine related issues in their own communities.

  • Just Coffee - Throughout the year, Just Coffee offers customized travel delegations to visit their coffee producers. Delegations are open to Just Coffee customers, friends, community members, avid coffee drinkers, and anyone with an interest in fair trade and cultural diversity.
  • MayaWorks - During these ten day tours of the western highlands of Guatemala, participants have the opportunity to visit indigenous artisans and enjoy the beauty of the country as well gain insights about Maya culture and fair trade.
  • Traidcraft, Foundcion Chol Chol and SouthWorld AdvenTours -  Over fourteen days, participants will be able to visit handicraft, wine, honey, and textiles producer communities, as well as other important sites in Chile.
  • Yanchana Gourmet Chocolate Tour - Chocolate tours of Ecuador offer the opportunity to explore the Ecuadorian Amazon, learn about cacao trees, understand the processes involved in making Yachana Jungle Chocolate (and, of course, there will be tastings!).
