FairTradePrinciples.org Educates and Inspires
Thursday, December 31, 2015
(Fair Trade Federation)On July 1, 2010, the Fair Trade Federation
launched
FairTradePrinciples.org
to
explain the Fair Trade business model and
inspire others to adopt
trading
practices that distribute power, risks, and
rewards more equitably.
The site offers real
world examples
from Federation members for nine principles of
Fair
Trade.
Members have undergone a
rigorous screening
process to assess their full commitment to
these principles in
all of their work.
“Trade should promote
fair
compensation, safe and healthy conditions,
long-term relationships,
transparent
business practices, and workplaces free from
discrimination and forced
child
labor,” says Federation executive director
Carmen K. Iezzi. “When trade
encompasses
these elements, the lives of people and their
communities improve.”
Made possible through
the
generous support of the Catholic
Relief Services’ Fair Trade Fund and
designed
by the Washington DC-based firm Vizualle,
FairTradePrinciples.org
serves
as a lasting tool to explain how entrepreneurs
can alleviate poverty,
reduce
inequality, and create opportunities for people
to help themselves.
